Blakeslee. former iv public school supervisor here, today was under a six-I j month road sentence suspended upon payment of a S100 fine and court costs for possessing and distributing Dbscene literature and pictures.ar-Blakeslee and six other persons were convicted yesterday in recorder’s court in one of the most sensational trials in Wilmington in years.County authorities called Blakeslee the leader of the -syndicate which they say took pictures cf nude women and sold them through a camera shop operated by one of 'he defendants. He also was charged with procuring models to pose for the nude photos.Paul Wright, former science professor at Wilmington College, and John W. Loughlm, operator of the camera shop, were each fined $100 and placed on good behavior for two years. Four other defendant? were fined $50 and costs and placed on good behavior for two years.The other defendants were Wanda Withers, former bursar at Wilmington College. Aim Chadwick, a former coed at the school. H. R. Fusseil. a railroad employe, and William F. Winfield ^ | Smith over the right of a press j photographer to take pictures in court during the trial. Goldbert contended that the photographer was hampering the trial.Judge Smith ruled that the photographer was not impeding the progress of the case and allowed him to continue taking pictures. He 'aid that In his opinion, if the public was admitted to the trial the photographer had the right to take pictures for the rest of the public to see.Smith termed the pictures introduced as evidence horrible, shocking and downright common. When a defense attorney asked that the charges be dismissed on the grounds that the pictures constituted are. Smith said.
