How many of you have eaten some of It's Good Brand fancy table syrup, plain flavored, flavorerod with honey, or sorghum flavored? These syrups are made by the Duke Syrup Company and sold locally.W. P. Duke, Sr. started making syrup for his children but after h'.s neighbors and friends tasted it and said, It’s Good”, he decided to make it for consumer use and name it It's Good. This company is now operated very capably bv W I’. Duke. Jr. Also employed he re are James N. Robinson, C. B Gentry. R. M. Burgess and Dwaine Duke.The Duke Syrup Company has just recently completed some expansions and have also gotten in some new equipment which includes a big copper kettle used in place of the old type vat. This kettle is used in making jellies and jams also and by the next strawberry season the Dukes hope to be making strawberry jam.The corn syrup used in making this product is shipped in from Iowa and other corn belt states The cane sugar comes from New Orleans. Mr. Duke hopes to be able to double his working force within the next two years.During the peak season the Duke Syrup Company ships out about 6,000 gallons per month.We also wish to congratulate Dwaine Duke who is the operator of a mop industry operated along with the Duke Syrup Compariy Dwaine is only 15 years old and already in business. He can make about three dozen mops an hour. Yarn for these mops is sc cured from cotton mills and is the waste material discarded by these mills. These mops are sold to local ware houses in Cullman.Congratulations Dwaine* and W P. Duke, Jr. We are glad to have you in Cullman County.
