muon mure i nan a coupie ui uuiixa.7, . ♦ .1A very pleasant1 evening was spent in the English cliureli mission room on Thursday,-when tlio members of the congregation met to give Archdeacon Pentreath a friendly welcome, an opportunity not afforded them when lie made his first visit here in the winter. The following ladies.... and gentlemen contributed to the pleasure of all present by their singing and music: Mesjlames . -Davys, Goepel,Whalley, Day, Campbell, Astley, - and Messrs. Et. M. Macdonald, New ling, Simpson and Brougham. After a formal welcome by the vicar i.u the name of the congregation the archdeacon thanked the congregation for their warm welcome, and gave a sketch of the work that is being done and his hopes for the future of the church in the district, and in the diocese generally. The members of the Ladies’*' .Guild then served refreshments, home grown cherries and strawberries, the generous gift of Mrs. Newling forming a special feature.
