OBITUARY EMMA HERZMANN YEAROUSFuneral services for Emma Herzmann Yearous, 91, were held Friday, June 11, 1976 at the St. John Lutheran Church. Rev. P. Fred Houston officiated and the Gleim Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.Emma was born in Germany in the year 1884 on July 5. However, very soon after her birth her parents left Germany and brought the infant to America.As a small girl she was baptized into the Christian faith here in America.When she was a young girl she was confirmed into the Lutheran Church after being instructed at the St. Sebald Lutheran Church outside of Strawberry Point.Emma attended country school just a mile from where she grew up.When she became a young lady she married John Herzmann and the young couple engaged in farming. They first farmed outside of Arlington to the South and here on this farm five sons were born to the couple.Mr. Herzmann died in 1920.Some years later she married John Yearous and they farmed also. Mr. Yearous died in 1939.Emma lived a long and active life. She was active in her home right up till her last hospitalization. Her eyesight was good and she read much. Her hearing was still good and it was easy to converse with her.It was at her home she tripped and fell and broke her hip. Shewas a patient at the OelweinHospital when she passed away on June 9, 1976.She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, oneson, Arnold, three brothers, andone grandson, Melvin.She leaves to mourn her loss four sons, Walter, John, Leo all of Arlington. Will of Rock Island, 111. one brother Ott Strochschein of West Union, Iowa.She leaves several grandchildren, and great grandchildren.Burial was at the Taylorsville Cemetery.Pallbearers were Irvin Gamm, John Plies, George Herzmann, Roy Peeper, Duane Schmidt, and William Thompson.
