The president was A. H. Jones. The Cunty Bank opened for business on January 5, 1891. Then on March 1, 1891, the First National Bank of Elgin consolidated with the Lee County Bank and moved to Giddings. It was dubbed the First National Bank of Giddings, and has since been called that. The first board of directors in Giddings were Dr. J. A. Fields, I. J. Fariss, P. M. Cuny, E. J. Archinald, Ed. R. Sinks, J. L. Rousseau, and S. F. Wade. Very little turnover in directors was effected throughout the whole 80 years, there being onl y2 in all from the beginning until now. From 1913 until 192 there was only one addition to the board--Gus H. Fritsche ofge Fields became president upon the bank’s atmy Giddings, and he served as such 17 years until his death. P. M. Cuny was vice president, while Archinald was cashier. J. C. Hillsman became president after Field’s death, and served for nine ears, when Ed. R. Sinks took over. Sinks headed the bank or 20 years, and G. H. Fritsche took the office. Fritsche served until 1942, when Monroe Hannes, the current president, ascended to that position.
