Mokena Police Improve Their Radio EquipmentMOKENA - The Mokenapolice department will become a part of the Illinois Slate Police Radio Network. July 3. Two radio trans-mitter-roceivers are being forwarded to the Mokena department for use in policecan*. The receivers havebeen paid for out of stale funds and by the end of the year the state hopes to haveall the police departments apart of the network.When the network is complete it will mean that every police car in the state will have a common frequency so it can communicate with any-other police car in Illinois aswell as slate police stations.This system will be invaluable, it was pointed out, forcommunication in a highspeed chase or when a district. regional or stale search is on and speedy exchange of information may be the difference bet w een success or failure.New Lenox police have already installed their ISPRNequipment .Mokena police have also added to their own radio equipment by the purchase of two eight-channel scan-it was announced byR\der. The\ners.ChiefWavnewere purchased by the Police Association through funds the men have raised. Both of these are installed as the twoTheseinstrumentsdebasesdepartmentvices have eight lights, one for each station with which Mokena police has contact: Will County police; State police Dist. 4; State Police Dist. 5; Mokena fire department; New Lenox fire department; the weather station which warns of the approach or severe weather and car tocar.
