Spaulding- Tucker TECUMSEH, Mich., June 24. — Ralph Spaulding and Miss Mattye Tucker, both of Cleveland, were united in marriage Monday at 2:30 o'clock at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Co. A. Lawrence on South Maiden Lane. The ring ceremony was per formed by the Rev. B. L. Davies. The young couple were accompanied here by the groom's sister, Mrs. C. A. Foote of Cleveland, and Mrs. C. A. Roland and Mr. and Mrs. Dean Roland of Toledo. “Mr. Spaulding was a former resident of Tecumseh, being a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Spaulding. Community Play Attracts With the Community Recreation Association's program of organized play for the boys of the village under way, the number of youths who are taking advantage of this project under the supervision of George F. Johnson, principal of the Central high school, is increasing daily. Monday, the opening date of the summer play season, there were 20 boys at Athletic park. Yes terday this number increased to 35. The boys were divided into groups according to their age for the first time yesterday. During the first two days a series of group games was the only diversion. This part of the program will be enlarged upon as the season progresses, each individual being given an oppor tunity to perfect himself in various athletic feats. Tecumseh Notes Phyllis Jones, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Warren Jones, entertained at her home in Ridgeway Monday honoring her tenth birthday anni versary. The hours were spent in games and music. At 5:30 a two course supper was served. The guests were seated at one long table centered with a crystal bas ket of roses. Small lighted tapers were arranged at each place. The guests were Misses Helen Sanford, Donelda Stone, Naomi Beland and Paresa Deery of Tecumseh, Misses Helen Miller, Louise Paxon of Dun dee, Miss Loree Kniffin of Brit ton, Misses Kathleen Grant, Har riett Hatter, Alice Thomas and Alice Freer of Ridgeway. Mrs. James Collins was in Ypsi lanti Monday attending the Com mencement exercises at the Mich igan State Normal College. Robert Collins, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Collins, was one of the graduates. On the front page of the June- July issue of the Michigan Church man, a magazine devoted to the activities of Episcopal diocese of Detroit, appears a photograph of the Venerable James G. Widdifield, Archdeacon of Detroit, who has resigned after three years, to as sume the pastorship of St. Paul's Memorial church, Greenfield. The resignation will take effect Sep tember 1. Mr. Widdifield was pas tor of St. Peter's Episcopal church here and St. John’s church in Clin ton prior to the coming of the Rev. J.J. Preston as pastor of these two churches. Mr. Widdifield went to Detroit from Tecumseh. Gerald Greenwood was in De troit on business Monday and Tues day. R. J. McCoy and T. A. Smith were in Onsted yesterday on business. Instead of three acts as has been the custom at the weekly vaude ville entertainments and bargain day offering, there will be two more expensive acts staged this evening. They will be the Shorts, Hawai ians, a five group offering instru mental and dance numbers. The accompaniment and overture num bers will be played by the Clinton band directed by Charles Skinner. There will be no Wednesday pro gram next week. Leon E. Temple was in Toledo yesterday on business. The store recently vacated by the Co. N. Grabner shoe store has been leased to the Kroger grocery store company of Detroit. At the pres ent George Kempf, local building contractor, is laying a new floor in the store prior to the arrival of Kroger carpenters to do other work on the building. Vaughn Prayne was in Ann Arbor Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Hay and daughter Marion and Mrs. Ladd of Jackson were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Mervin Ferguson Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Shurtz were guests of Mrs. Fred Guy in Milan Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Lester Chevrie and daughter Ann of New Haven are visiting friends here. Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Tingley vis ited Mr. Tingley’s sister and hus band, Mr. and Mrs. Edward John son, in Saline Monday.
