Sudden Death. We were pained to learn on Saturday of the deatli of our old friend Samuel Bishop, which Occurred about 3 o'clock on the morning of that day. We ure informed that he had lieen feeling unwell the day previous and drank v**7 freely of ice water. Near midnight he was •oiled with severe cramping pains and rapidly j •ank, breathing his last in about four hours from the time of the first attack. We cannot but feel that it is due to tho deceased to speak u few words relative to his life, character and virtues. Mr. Bishop was a hard-working, kind-hearted man, whose life was one of toil to secure tho comfort of his J family, to whom he was indeed a kiud parent' and husband. For years Mr. Bishop has bean au active member of the Order of Sons of Temperance. He Joined Minnehaha Division shortly after its institution, and for several Jears held the office of Inside Sentinel, in which |H)*ition be will be remembered by many who seldom missed his face at the inner door; for we do not remember of his ever having J“• -d a meeting unless he was ill, or away from home. We never saw more faithful, unalterable devotion to the temperance pledge •ad principles than was exemplified in Samuel Bishop’s every day life. Kindly, pleasant aud unobtrusive, he never paraded his principles h«fore the public, but when tempted, as he often wu, he quietly and firmly resisted, mind-hjg not scoffs or jeers, but triumphing over au by steady, consistent practice of the belief e devoted to heart, and soul.
