M'Anai.ly Will confer a favordiiu the publication of the following;At a call meeting of Flint Hill Lodge of Ancient, Free and Accepted Masons, assembled at I nl their hall, on the 3rd day of June, 1853, the U-following preamble and resolutions were unanimously adopted:Whereas, It has pleased our Heavenly Father, the “Grand Master,” in his mysterious Providence, to call from our midst our dear friend andbrother, Ferdinand S. Whitehead, who departed this life on the morning of the 3rd inst., aged 28 (Rtiyears.Ou motion, it was resolved that a committee of three be appointed to draft resolutions, ex-1 r« pressivc of the profound sympathy of this Lodge in the death of Bro. Whitehead, the Worshipful Master of the Lodge, and to coudole with his | widow in the deep affliction which has overwhelmed her in his death.The following brethren were appointed said committee: D. T. Sherman, II. B. Logau, and Samuel A. Grantham, who reported the following:1. Resolved, That in the death of our esteemedfriend and brother, F. S. Whitehead, this Lodge | d has been robbed of its Master, the Masonic Fraternity an exemplary member, his widow a devoted husband, and community a valuable | ^citizen.2. Resolved, That whilo we deeply deplore the | u loss we have sustained in the death of our brother, thus called to refreshment and triumph above, | ® we would humbly bow to this inscrutable providence of the Supreme Architect, and reinember IC that we too are mortal, and that “ in the midst i1 of life we are in death;” and that we strive by | b the light of Revelation, and the teachiugs of our noble order, so to live and act, that wheu the | nsilver cord be loosed, the golden bowl be brokeu at the fountain, we may, though the mediation of the Lion of the tribe of Judah, ascend to the Celestial Lodge above.3. Resolved, That the members of this Lodge 1 kwear the usual badge of mourning for thirty days, and the furniture of the Lodge be draped iu mourning during the same time, as expressive of our profouud grief iu the death of our brother.4. Resolved, That a copy of these resolutions be tendered to the widow of the deceased, and also forwarded to the St. Charles Reveille and St.Louis Christian Advocate, for publication.H. L.
