That is one thing we do not have, maybe later, but we do send a card or something from the museum.Our last memorials were from Mr. and Mrs. Dale Grimes and Henry Black. Mr. Kahl is a cousin of Dorothy Wisdom.William Wisdom and Tommy Patterson of Medicine Mound visited the Wisdoms Sunday.Early one morning 21years ago a young man wasstranded in 'Thalia. It wasdark, windy and very cold.His destination was the “OldMcLarty Place’’ 8 or 10 miles •»south of Thalia on Waggoner Ranch. While he was shaking from the cold, he saw a light come on in a house near by. He went to the house, knocked on the door, told the lady how cold he was. He received a welcome, warmth and a breakfast and was taken to the Waggoner Ranch. Last Wednesday evening the same young man was back in Thalia and visited with the lady where the light came on - Texas Ford. The young man now' lives in Georgia and told Texas if she would come to see him he would tour her around and would show hervisiting Mr. and Mrs. Duane Naylor.Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Fuller of Malcolf and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wayne Fuller and daughter of Dallas spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Jake Mason. Mrs. Florence McBeath visited them in the Mason home on Saturday.Mr. and Mrs. Zack McKinley and girls of Perryton visited Mrs. Ollie Mae McKinley Thursday and Friday. The girls Molly and Mindy remainbd for a longer visit.Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Selfhave been visiting Mr. and Mrs. Garnet Gilbert in Arlington, Mrs. Beverly Railsback in Mesquite, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Lawrence of Mineral Wells and Mrs. Terry Blaha and children of Dallas. Mrs. Lawrence (Myra) brought them home.Mrs. Maye Naylor and Mrs. Naoma Green of Clarendon were business visitors in Austin this week end.Patricia Matus was a visitor in Wichita Falls Friday.Mr. and Mrs. Glen McBeath visited Mr. and Mrs. Robert Cobb and other relatives in Vernon Sunday.Ralph Mason of Lake Kickapoo visited Mr. and Mrs. Jake Mason, Wayne Mason and Florence McBeath Friday.Randa McBeath spent Friday night in Crowell visiting Tony Dunn. June 15—Big Country Savings and First Security Savings' Board of Directors announced today the merger of both associations creating a $230 million financial institution, according to John W. Harrell, vice chairman/chief executive officer, and William E. Gilliland, vice president.Harrell and Gilliland also announced the new resulting association will be named Commodore Savings Association effective June 15. The home office of Commodore will be located in Stamford.The new resulting association's name change will only reflect expanded financial services to serve the customers better than before.First Security, a $63million savings and loan association with three branches in Abilene and one in Clyde, was founded in 1974. Glliland expressed his appreciation to his customers for their past support and stated, “merging -with Big Country will present anopportunity to serve theAbilene market better thanbefore.Big Country Savings was founded in 1934 as Stamford Federal Savings and Loan. InDEN MEETINGThe Crowell Cub Scout Pack 49 met June 11, at the new community center. Denners for the opening ceremony were Ramsey Ghazal and Felix Lozano. A United States flag was presented to them. This flag was received from Washington, D C. It flew over the United States Capital on April 28 for the Crowell CubScout Troop at the request of Congressman Jack Hightower. It w ill serve as the official American flag for Pack 49.Following opening ceremonies, the scouts journeyed to the downtown area where they spent the afternoon picking up litter around the court house and adjoining street areas. Afterwards, cold lemonade and cookies were served to the hot, tired scouts and closing ceremonies concluded the meeting.The next meeting will beSaturday, June 25. A skatingparty has been planned. CubScouts are to meet promptlyat 1 p.m. at the newcommunity center. Den leaders will escort the boysto Childress for skating and pizza. All boys are to bring $5.00 each to help pay for expenses. Arrival back in Crowell should be around 7:30 that evening. Parents are invited to join in this and all Cub Scout activities.Last RitesHeld for GlennGambleGraveside services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 15, in the Thalia Cemeterv for Glenn Gamble,or75-vear-old Foard Countv native. Mr. Gamble died at his home in Thalia Monday afternoon, June 13.Womack-Manard Funeral Home of Crowell was in charge of arrangements. Serving as pall bearers were Farris Gatewood, Dan Gatewood, Edward Streit. John Streit, Dallas McCarty andGamble McCarty.•*He was born Dec. 23,1907, in Thalia, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Pete T. Gamble. He was a farmer and attended the Lockett Church of Christ. He married the former Fid Doty of Thalia.Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Norma Gatewood of Thalia a-nd Dorothy Streit of Vernon; two sisters, Texas Ford of Thalia and Beatrice McCarty of Vernon; one brother. Wayne Gamble of Thalia; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.W.S.L.
