BROTHER EDWARD KNECHTA funeral mass was said Thursday at St. Paschal monastery in Oak Brook for the Rev. Brother Edward Knecht of St. Roch Friary, 4700 West 159th street, Oak Forest.Brother Edward, who had been the friary’s cook since coming to St. Roch in 1943, died June 18 in Oak Forest hospital.Burial was in Portiuncula cemetery, Oak Brook.Brother Edward, who joined the Franciscan order in 1922, celebrated his golden jubilee in 1972.Before coming to St. Roch, he had been at monasteries in Cleveland and Joliet.He is survived by two nieces, Mrs. J. J. Krause of Chicago and Miss M. A. Plasmeir.
