Flying Saucer Over U.S. Air BaseA Mying saucer, roaring like thunder, at over 1000 miles an hour, was reported early yesterday. at Oaklund. California.Three control tower officers said the disc-shaped object dived five times over the Hamilton Air Force base.It approached at altitudes dc-tween 2000 feet and 5000 feet, shooting blue flame.The men said they followed the disc's course with binoculars.Corporal Roger Prior commented: At first I thought It wav a falling star, but It did not fall, it kept on going.*'An Force Intelligence men questioned the three observers all the morning.Headquarters officials of the Fourth Air Force, at Hamilton Field, would not comment. They said the report was being sent to Washington.The observers said at a Press conference yesterday afternoon they could not discern the shape of the object.•Stall Sergeant Ellis Lorimer. who did most of Hie talking at the Press conference, said in answer to a question about the estimated speed, height and distance at night. He would not commit himself to a figure.
