Calif., June 23—(JP)— There could be more “candor” about the prospects for atomic power without endangering national security, says Dr. J. Robert Oppenheimer.“It seems to me that we never will find out whether atomic energy for civilian use would be a good thing unless we are told more about what can and cannot be expected of it,” the famed nuclear physicist said. His comment was in answer to questions of reporters who called Wednesday at his cubbyhole office at the University of California, where he is teaching a short special summer course. Oppenheimer is director of the institute for advanced study at Princeton university. On the issue of disclosing the number of atom bombs possessed by the United States. Oppenheimer said it was “primarily a matter of political wisdom.” He expressed the opinion that some information on the size of the stockpile could be made public without harm.He suggested that universities go slow' about requiring loyalty oaths. “We want a free w'orld but we do not want to lose our free country in dealing with some of the lesser issues involved,” he said. Personally, he added, “I have signed so many loyalty oaths that one more wouldn't make much difference.”By Labor DelegGENEVA, Switzerland OP)—The Philippine Hu: ganization has no connec labor movement, Jose Mpine workers delegate asecond international labc said Thursday.“There are some qu have unqualifiedly calli agrarian reformers and t part of the Philippine ment,” Muana told a pi of the conference.“I am glad that with by its leader, Luis Tarult; nesty terms of the Philij ment, and the treacherc the belpved wife and da : great lamented leader, t ident Manuel Quezon, by ing to this organization from the need of looking ment to prove the falsitlief.State’s SenatorsOn Labor AmenRed Papers Shout U.
