Vancouver Daily SunA foolseap-sized mimeographed bulletin is all that is left of the over twenty-eight page Vancouver Daily Sun. A printers’ strike is not without effect! In the bulletin of June 15th is the following item:“Over 4,000 strikers in the arena Saturday afternoon cheered the announcement that 42 unions were out. Enthusiastic reception was given representatives of the striking telephone girls. Among the speakers were representatives from campaigners of the great war and the comrades of the great war, who engaged in strong attacks on the administration of the Great War Veterans9 Association. Whether it was a revolutionary strike or not they declared they would be able to say later, but they ranked themselves as wage slaves and said that the struggle would not end until a new economic system wa3 adopted. Secretary Smith said French sailors who had arrived in this port to take out one of the boats constructed here would not touch the vessel until the strike was finished. He also claimed that transport workers of Liverpool would refuse to handle cargoes from any Canadian port while the Winnipeg strike lasted. Daughters of the Empire were rapped for going to the assistance of the telephone company.”
