Big Norwegian Synod Meeting2o0 Pastors and Delegates from North Dakota, .Montana and CAnada Are in Session in Minot —Interesting Point DiscussedThe annual meeting of the North-wee tern District of the Norwegian Synod of America closed Thursday. The meeting was called to order at the First Lutheran Church in this city Friday morning by the president, Rev. Mr. Hendrickson of Clifford, N. D. Mhe attendance was large, 55 ministers and nearly 160 delegatee, from the various Lutheran churches of North Dakota, Montana and Canada attending. Each church sent one delegate besides its pastor, where he was able to come. One of the main topics discussed at this meeting, was whether the President should retain a regular charge and be given the assistance of a field superintendent, or whether he would he allowed to give up his charg would be allowed to give up his charge and accept a reasonable re-numeration for hla services in behalf of th Synod. The delegates were unanimous in d eel ring to re-elect the old president. Rev. HendTlckson, but he came out flatfooted ahd refused to accept, unless he be given the privilege of giving up his charge. There is some thing in the constitution which makes it necessary that the president be a pastor of some church, but a good many of the delegates believed that the constitution is elastic enough to warrant the change. Rev. Hendrickson gave as his reason for wishing the change made, that the work interfered with is work as a pastor. A mar Jority report was brot in Tuesday favoring his view of the question, while the minority report, favors the election of some pastor, who will be given the assistance of a field man.The opening sermon of the big meet lng was given by Rev. Lien of Portland, N. D., Friday morning. On Sunday morning services in Norwegian were held by Prof. Preus, Pres, of Luther College at Decorah, la. Prof. Hove of St. Paul gave an address Sunday afternoon on '.‘Gospel as a World Power. The main address Monday was given by Prof. Sverdrup of Christiania.
