LIBBY — Augusta Manicke, 93, died Thursday afternoon at her home in Libby. She was born June 25, 1887, in Hamburg, Germany, and emigrated to America as a child with her parents. She married Fredrick G. Manicke on June 14, 1907, in Bloomville, Wis. The couple lived in Bloomville until 1912, when they homesteaded in the Pleasant Valley-Fisher River area south of Libby. Mrs. Manicke was appointed postmaster at Manicke on April 19, 1915, and held that position until 1924. She also supervised the rural library and the family was in strumental in establishing the Man icke School in 1919. They moved to Libby in August 1924. Her husband died in June 1930. In 1948 she married Alfred Man icke, who died in 1954. She lived in Kalispell and Whitefish for several years and then returned to Libby. She was preceded in death by a son, Wilbur, in 1924. Survivors include three daugh ters, Helen Rouse of Libby, Vestina Withee of Anderson, Calif., and Dal las Bollinger of Silverton, Ore.; five sons, Elwin of Chehalis, Wash., Alfred and Winston, both of Whitefish, Forest of Libby and Ken neth of Bloomington, Minn.; 27 grandchildren, 44 great-grand children and a great-great-grand child. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Vial Funeral Home in Libby with Pastor John Rasmussen of St. John Lutheran Church officiat ing. Burial will follow in the Libby Cemetery.
