VERNON — Arraignment was continued this week for Lyndale Ivy, 23, charged with the Jan. 30 murder of E. J. and Faye Shasteen near Scipio. Jennings Circuit Judge Joseph Carson approved a motion for continuance filed this morning by Ivy’s lawyer, Harold Webster, because reports of psychiatric examination of Ivy last Wed nesday at Madison State Hospital had not been received. All hearings and the arraignment have been con tinued The motorcycle, as well as several cans of oil and a number of tools, fell out of the truck, which was then driven from the scene at a high rate of speed. Having recovered the heavily damaged motorcycle, Ross did not pursue the vehicle further but provided authorities with a description of it. The license plate from the truck was also found near the accident scene. However, authorities had considerable difficulty in gathering enough evidence to place Allen at the scene of the theft and wreck. He initially denied any involvement. Allen was also suspected of the breakin at the Westport Hardware Company the same week, in which a number of pocket knives and tools were taken. A search warrant for the Allen premises was obtained in this investigation, but he was later cleared of involvement in the breakin. A 17-year-old Westport youth has been arrested in that case and is facing charges in Juvenile Court.
