Indianapolis, Ind., June 22—Hoos iers the world over are contribut ing to a memorial to Paul Dresser, author of the famous “On the Banks of the Wabash.” The remains of Paul Dresser are to be conveyed to a lonely spot on the banks of the Wabash at Terre Haute, Indiana, at the junction of the National Old Trails highway, a spot which he trod in boyhood days. Governor Warren T. McCray hig issued an appeal to Hoosiers gener ally to contribute. They are, he said, touched by these words where ever they are: Oh, the moonlight’s fair tonight along the Wabash. From the fields there comes the breath of new mown hay. Through the sycamores the can dle lights are gleaming, on the banks of the Wabash, far away. The memorial committee is com posed of C. T. Jewett, Max Ehrmann, Mique O’Brien, the United States Trust Company, Terre Haute, India na, is receiving contributions.
