Miss Hettie Willett Wins Praise at Owensboro Banquet, Attended the Alumnae Meeting of Mt. St. Joseph's and was Elected Sec retary of the Alumnae, SHE RESPONDED TO A TOAST. An historical day at Mt. St. Jo seph’s, was the alumnae meeting of Tuesday, says the Owensboro Mes senger. All the classes of gradua tion, since 1880, were represented by distinguished alumnae, from the va rious walks of life—the “sweet girl graduate” of a year ago, business women of the world, strong, noble mothers of happy homes, and relig ious and secular teachers. Officers were elected as follows: Mrs. W. Hardigg, of Evansville, pres ident; Mrs. Chas. Kellenaers, of Uniontown, vice-president; Miss Het tie Willett, of Paducah, secretary; and Miss Ida Mai Hunter, of Central City, treasurer. About one hundred and twenty five persons, including alumnae, guests and advanced pupils of the academy, were present at the alum nae banquet. The academy colors, blue and white, interlaced with silver, beau tified the dining hall; the floral dec orations were garlands, mounds and large bouquets of field daises. Miss Hettie Willett was a charm ing toast-mistress——bright, witty, in telligent. “A Happy Meeting,” re sponded to by Mrs. J. B. Hull, of Cal houn, echoed the sentiments of the heart of each alumnae present. Miss M. W. Wight paid a fine tribute to Rt. Rev. Wm. Geo. McCloskey in her toast, “Our Bishop.’’ Mrs. Chas. Kellenaers, in her subject, “Build ers,” spoke most beautifully and elo quently of Rev. P. J. Volk, founder of St. Joseph's, and those who have succeeded him as propagators of his great work, “Maple Mount,” by Mrs Hardigg; “Loved Ones ‘Neath the Sod,” by Miss O. Pike; “The Ties That Bind,” by Mrs. R. O. Ditto; “Our Alumnae,” by Miss*J. M. Hun ter, and “Till We Meet Again,” by Miss H. Willett, were deeply inter esting and proved how strong is the love of St. Joseph's pupils for their alma mater and for one another, Miss Hettie Willett of Paducah, responded to the toast, “Alumnae in the Various Walks of Life.’ Miss Willett has several relations in Ow ensboro and is well known here.
