ror the ••Unflsinaii’s Journal/’ Dodication of the SLt. Joy M E. Church. According to announcement the Mt. Joy M. K. Church was dedicated to the worship of Almighty Cod on Sabbath last, the 19th instant. H is church is a neat and well arranged building, situated two miles north of Clearfield town, in a pleasant grove. Providence favored us with Bnc weather, so that when the hour ol divine service arrived the house was almost filled to overflowing, while the doors and windows were crowded with anxious hearers. Onr worthy Presiding Elder, James Sanks, opened the services by reading the hymn commencing,“Lord of host?! to thee vre raise. Here, a house of prfyer and praise.’’Alter singing, prayer was offered by the preacher in charge, Rev. D. Shorter. The reading of the Scriptures followed, in which all the preachers present joined. The congregation then united in singing‘•Before Jehovah's awful throne.Yc nations bow with sacred joy **After which Rev. James Sanks Iavored us with nn excellent nnd appropriate sermon from Mai. 3: 8, in which he presented the claims of God upon as so successfully that many hearts were moved, and the entire congregation held, s if spell-bound, by Ilia eloquence, lie is emphatically one of the workmen that need not be ashamed, and as a financier, or collector, he has few equals. Afterlhe sermon, ho Elated to the congregation that the churchdebt must be provided for; and to our surprise, yea astonishment, the amount asked for traj more than raised, and that almost without without an effort. Indeed, we were under the necessity of restraining the people, so liberal were they in their contributions. Methinks twice the amount could hare been raised. We feel under ruany obligations to our friendsvho have taken such a lively interest, and contributed so liberally. May they all receive it hack again a hundred fold. The day was one of great interest and will doubtless bo reverted to in years to come. The dedicatory hymn was then sung commencing,■ The perfect world by Adam trod. Was the first lewplo built by God. 'Alter which the church Bible and Ilymn-book were solemnly dedicated to God in prayer, by Rev. James Sanks, in which many glad hearts united. We all joined in flinging, ‘•Praise God from whoiu all blowing* flow. The Ixmediction was then pronounced and wereturned to our homes saying—“Give unto the Lord, ye kindred ol the people, give unto the Lord glory and strength. Give unto theLord the glory due unto his Dame.” p. s.
