son was iound on Monday evening last,The flood in the Mississippi, at Saint Louis, had not abated on the 22d ultimo. The water was up to the eaves of the houses in Illinois town, opposite St. Louis. John Barnwell, a drover, was drowned near St. Louis, on the 20th. The people were deserting their houses in lllinoistown and escaping to St. Louis in skid's. At Kaskaskia landing, the water was hall way up to the warehouses. The bottom and landing opposite Ste. Genevieve were covered, and the town of Ste. Genevieve nearly inundated. Several other points were in a like condition. The farms and bottoms, situated on the river were overflowed, and nearly all the wood at the different landings has been swept olT. At Cape Girardeau the water is flowing into the first floor of the houses next the river; and at Chester also the water is in several houses nearest the bank. The Missouri, Illinois, and Mississippi, were all reported to be on the rise. The river was rising at St. Louis into the houses op. Water st. north of Laurel st.
