_ Keppes-street, Roussgiu-sauars. — On tthe afternoon of Monday, the 5th, of June, the Pew. Samuel Davies was publicly recognised as pastor of the Baptist Church, meeting in Keppel-street Chapel; on which occasion the Rev. Joseph Angus, M.A., explained ‘the nature of a Christian Church, and after Mr. Davies had delivered a concise and impressive statement of the truths he held as the basis of his ministrations, the Rev. A. G. Fuller offered, solemn prayer for the Divine blessing on the newly-formed connexion, and a from 2 Corinthians iv. 5, was addressed to the minister, by the Rev. Dr. Murch, of Stepney College. After a social tea-meeting, the congregation re-assembled, when the Rev. Charles Stovel preached to the Church from Romans xii. 4, 5. The Rev. Messrs. Overbury, Smith, of Park-street, Owen Clarke, Peacock, and S. Davi kindly engaged in other parts of the services. Anton DuHaper, Lurens—The church and congregation assembling, in this place of worship being desirous of showing the sense they entertain of the very kind, disinterested, and important services rendered to the cause from its commencement by Mr. Charles Geard, of St. Albans, have lately manifested it by making him a valuable present. Worsteap, Norrox.—Rev. C. T. Steen, of Exeter, has accepted a unanimous invitation to the pastorate, of the Baptist church at Worstead, and has en tered on the duties of that station. Kingston, NEAR Tavunton.—On Tuesday, June 13th,, 1843, at Kingston, near Taunton, Somerset, Mr. William Strongman was ordained, to the work of an evangelist. The Rev. James Taylor,, of Fulloyd, read the Scriptures and prayed. The Rev. Matthew Hodge, of Wiveligcombe, delivered the introductory dis course. The Rev. J. H. Duff, of Wellington, asked the questions. The Rev. J. Poole, of Bishop's Hall, offered the ordination prayer. The Rev. J. Bishop, of Bridgewater, gave the charge to the minister, and,ad dressed the people. The Rev. Messrs. Gammon,, Par kyn, and Pinkstone engaged in the other parts of the salemn service. Bexrrer, NEAR Derpy.—A meeting of the teachers of the boys’ division of the congregational Sab bath school, Belper, was held on Sunday evening, the 18th inst., for the purpose of presenting to their excel lent and highly respected superintendent, Mr.. Henry Thompson (on the occasion of his intended removal and consequent resignation), token of their, personal, re gard and esteem for his past services. The present con sisted of ‘‘ Cobbin’s Condensed Commentary,” hand somely bound, and bearing a suitable inscription. The young men in the senior class also presented him with an inkstand, ornamental pen,, and writing-case, with an inscription expressive of their respect and gratitude.
