New-York, April 8. Lafi: Tuefday Morning 150I. in counterfeit Briciih Halfpence, was leized in a Houfe i i this City^, by George Harrifon, Efq; Surveyor and Searcher of his Majeuy’s Cuftoms. Such AUiduity as this, in making two confiderable Seizures within a Fortnight’s Time, will, we truft, be an effeftual Step towards preventing the Importation of counterfeit Copper Halfpence into this Province, fo prejudicial* to the Country in general, and the fair Trader in particular ; and will, undoubtedly, 'refleft no lefs Honour on onefo zealous for the Good of the Common Weal, than* * 'Difhonour on the Perfon or Perfons who may at Times import t hem, contrary to the exprefs Words of the Ad of the Aflembly of this Province, lately made and provided in that Behalf.
