Samuel Bernstein Dies WednesdayROCK ISLAND - Samuel H. Bernstein, 75, 2531 30th St., Rock Island, former Sterling resident, died Wednesday afternoon at Moline Lutheran Hospital following four months illness.Funeral services went* held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Hodge son Funeral Home. Graveside services were hekl at 3::#) p.m. at Riverside Cemetery, Sterling. A memorial has been established in his honor to the Tri City Jewish Center or the American Cancer Society.Samuel Bernstein was born March 20, 1898 in Poland, the son of Joseph and Nee he me Bernstein. He came to the United States in 1912, moving to Chicago. He later came to Sterling where he resided from 1934 until 1951, when he operated the Lill-Mar Shop. He later moved to Rock Island and operated a Lill-Mar Shop in Moline until his retirement in 1961.He married Grace Susman in Chicago Oct. 28, 1923. He was a member of the Tri City Jewish Center, Rock Island; Temple Sholom, Sterling; B’Nai Brith, was a veteran of WW I in the Army.Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Arthur (Lillian) Margolin, Sterling; one son, Joseph Marvin, Dallas, Tex.; nine grandchildren, three sisters, Mrs. Esther Cohen and Mrs. George Klasser, Chicago; and Mrs. Max Witt, Anaheim, Calif.
