NEWS OF THE MARYSVILLE BOY SCOUTS TRIP TO DELAWARE “THURSDAY July 7th, 1927, one year dzo, 29 boys from Marysville, left for Camp Ro-Fre- La. Twenty of those boys came away from Camp as. Boy Scouts. Since then the boys have grown in number under the leadership of Don D. Carmean. There’ are now forty full fledged Scouts. This year the boys will attend camp, the most of’ whom are second class, by now with one first class. They, expect to return as first class, star, or life Scouts, and belong to’ the white Swastika, and good Indian clubs. They will: also, grow stronger, devel op muscle, and get a coat of tan. They’ will learn how to swim, shoot by bow and rifle and also make designs in leather, and wood. They will also learn the names of stars and birds, and also names of weeds, flowers and animals. Camp.is one of the greatest most enjoyable, and looked forwarded to things in the life of every Boy Scout, Join the Boy Scouts of America and go to Camp Ro-Fre-La. ‘About thirty-five of the Boy Scouts from Marysville and New Dover took a trip to Delaware Friday, night where they enjoyed a very pleasant even ing. Our ‘Boy Scout ‘Room has been painted and papered and will soon be ready for use. Last, Thursday morning was Flag Day. After returning form’ Camp the flag was raised in the public square by Senior Patrol Leader Tom Gaumer. Quartermaster John N. Taylor, Scout masters Don’. Carmean’ and G. Star key with Mr. John’L. Sellers, and sev eral scouts : ‘present. The flag was rais ed at 8 A. M. and lowered at 6 FP.M. The Flag of the U. S. should be dis played’ on Lincoln's birthday, Feb, 12th;. Washington’ s birthday, Feb, 22nd; Mothre's Day, secon Sunday in May; Memorial Day, June 30th; Flag Day, June 14th; Independance Day, July 4th; Labor Day; first Monday in September, and Armistice Day, Nov ember 11th. Please observe these days and display the flag, Quartermaster “John N. Taylor is sn the ‘Scout News during the months of, June, July and August as the’ Scribe is working out of town, and om Gaumer who has been _writing hhe news’ up until, June 1st, will be in camp. The next meeting of the Boy Scouts will be held June 22, 1928, Mr. and Mrs. Dana’ Evans of Elwood Ave., have received word from, Dave Hubbard of St. Louis, Mo., that he is coming to visit the Scouts and bring an Eagle Scout with him. Dave has visited us several times and is a Scout himself. The drill which has been held each Friday afternoon at 4 P. M. will be dis continued until further notice.
