Those who want to read about divorces, abductions, suicides and like subjects must read the journals of the capitalists.Good. The Free Flag has stood r on the same platform from the beginning. Labor journals generally occupy the same honorable position.^ The Workingmen’s Party declares that political liberty without economical independence being but an empty phrase, we shall in the first place direct our efforts to the economical question. For acting in accordance with this declar- * ation the Labor Standard is assailed from several quarters!Our present political liberty is mockery, a a delusion and a snare. Of what value is it to those who suffer from the despotism of hunger and the invisible tyranny of circumstances VThe employing class have the liberty to take from workingpeople whatever they produce and to kill them by overwork and starvation. That is the liberty of to-day.The political perties are composed of the Moneyocracy and its parasites.^ IWorkingpeople can boast that in factories and workshops they are forced to work until their nerves are strained and overstrained and their bodies enfeebled and paralyzed. A proud boast.No charlatanism should be allowed to turn the attention of the workingpeople from their real interest — their economical emancipation.The Workingmen’s Party has a splendid mission before it.
