, MURDER TRIAL IN CLINTONCOUNTY. ♦----Komi Dtris, an Intemperate,Fawtonate Man* Kills his Stepson-Tried and Found Guilty,and Sentenoed to be Hone.The oormpondent of the Cincinnati Gazette furnishes the following account of tba trial isd sentence of Mom DitIi for the murder of hU stop-ton, which mm concluded at Frankfort, CUnton county, oiTthe nth inst:The moit interesting and exciting trial ever held in our county occupied the •pecial session of the Circuit Court the principal portion of the week just cloeed. It vu the trial of Mwm Davit, for the murder of Frank Emmons, The circumstances of the deed are briefly thete: The prisoner, Motet Davit, was a well-to-do farmer, and tome sixteen years einoe married a Mrs. Emmons, Davis being a widower at the time of the marriage, and both bad several children. The two families, by tbe matrimonial alliance, were brought under one roof. The prisoner and tbe step sons did not get along smoothly, and indeed difficulties and unpleasant difference* seemed to mar tbe domestic relations very frequently. Davis was a drunken character, and to bis dissipation, the trouble can all be traced. On the afternoon of the 21st of May, 1870, the prisoner went to a music- 1 al convention at Mulberry, in this county, and charging himself quite extensively with benzine,” went down to Me. James McDavis’ near Hamilton, in this county, boasting of hit intention to kill his step-aon, Frank Emmons. He went to the bouse, and seeing his victim on the porch, announced bis design, and in a moment or two plunged a knife into him, striking bis heart, and killing him almost instantly. Several parties rushed in, carried tbe body in the house, and it was with difficulty Davis was kept back, be wanting to make his work of death sure,
