Harrison’s mens soccer team was soundly defeated Sunday by New Castle 5-1. It was one of those days where you could tell nothing was going to go right and that’s exactly what happened. Normally a team who is ready and rarin’ to go with plenty of people at game’s start - Biddle’s had just barely enough men to field a team. Once the game started things went from bad to worse. New Castle wasted little time in testing Biddle's defense. They precisely passed through the locals, as if they weren't there, seem ingly at will. A corner kick was awarded to New Castle from the right defensive corner. The kick came to mid goal area where a hoard of bodies assembled. After a couple squibbed kicks by both teams a New Castle attacker whaled one into the crowd toward goal. Like a pin ball it careened off 3 defend ers before anyone could react to it and it rolled gently into the corner of the nets. Goalie Rocky Adams had no choice as all of this was just 10 feet from goal and he was blocked by the numerous bodies. New Castle scored again just minutes later when their right wing hit a perfect shot just over Adam's outstretch ed arms and under the crossbar. Their 3rd goal was a basic gift from fullback Paul Kaeser. In an attempt to clear a loose ball from the penalty area, Kaeser tried to outsmart the oncoming at tacker by backheeling the ball upfield. The attacker was wise to the trick and as Kaeser tried the maneuver the attacker easily burned the nets as Adams had pulled over to the left os entire right side open Castie’s 4th goal shot from fine teamwork and passing to provide an attack er for a shot on goal which was successful. The second half was a better defensive half for the men from Biddle’s Building Materials, allowing only one more goal late in the game. That coming on a question able handball call against Kaeser in the penalty area. Harrison's lone goal re sulted from their hustle as attacker Jack Dominic follow ed a shot towards goal from the left. The ball was mis played by the goalie allowing Dominic an opportunity to prevent a shut out. Biddle’s had 2 games left this season to try to improve on a record that now stands at 5-4-1. Sunday's game is against Our Lady of Victory at 4 p.m. Their last game is a tponement from June 3 which is tentatively resche duled for July 8 but because of the heat negotiations are going on play it in the evening hours at the com munity center.
