make.Casper 0. Olson.“Manager Avery Company.” ■August Hanson, manager of the Case T. M. Co., for North Dakota, arrived from Fargo and had charge of the splendid Case exhibit. He was ably assisted by the local manager, Marius Erickson, and others connected with the concern. The Case Co. entered two tractors, the Case 10-20, pricc-d at $1425, and the Case 9-18. The first pulled three Minch Grand DeTour plows and the 9-18 pulled two 14-inch plows. They both burn kerosene and are equipped with Hyatt roller bearings, with water strainer and thermostat. All gears are enclosed and work in u bath of oil. They produce more power than rated and each created a very favorable impression. The Case Co. had the largest tent on the ground, 40x60, showing the small 20-36 separator with attachments to go with the little 9-18 trac-, ; or. This machine threshes out about 800 bushels of grain a day.The Minot Motor Sales Co. entered I the “All Work” tractor, pulling three P. O. plows, and did fine, deep ' oreaking. The tractor sells for $1460 and the plows for $235. The engine is a 1428 and has a super-he#ter that ; throws the kerosene into gas. W. W. Edwards, who hot one of these tractors four years ago, was on the ground and informed the writer that j for three years he had pulled four I plows and last season seeded 450 | acres with it. This year he has plowed 500 acres with the old engine.The Minot Motor Sales Co. also entered the “Happy Farmer” tractor, a $1075 machine. This pulls two break-i ing plows. The Happy Farmer has a | peculiar steering device which runs I in the furrow and it looks as tho a man could lie down and take an oc-! casional nap and let the old tractor go its way. F. C. Upton and his bro-j ther, A. iJpton, and Mr. Martin, mem-| hers of the company, were in charge of the exhibit. F. C. Upton recently I returned from France where he was I engaged in setting up the Happy j Farmer tractors for the Allies for six j months. In France this outfit sells for 17,500 Francs, or $3,007.00. In France I he sold seven of them to one man.The Gray tractor, entered by the Minot Implement Co., or Frosaker rirothers, as the concern is now known -.ttracted a good deal of attention and elicited many favorable comments. This tractor is built a little the shape of a British tank and is practically cn-j closed. It is an 18-36 outfit and pulls | four John Deere breaker bottoms. It I has a big wide drive drum. It burns | g. soline and one man operates it eas-I ily. Its heavy wheel runs on sod so that it does not pack the soil. It is so built that in finishing a land, two or three plows may be used.Frosaker Bros, also entered an 8-16 Avery which sells for $925, pulling two bottoms, and a 12-25 Avery, selling for $1395 and pulling three bottoms. This concern had a “Yellow Fellow Separator on the ground. Among the Avery people attending the demonstration we noticed the following: Casper O. Olson, Grand Forks; Will Isham, the Fargo manager; N. E. Od-lund, who has charge of this block;*I. E. I.indsay, the Montana salesman; O, B. Anderson, cashier from Grand Forks, and B. L. Cheney, Jack Weber I and A. P. Gerszewski, operators.The Wallis Cub Jr., which is dis-! tributed from Minot by the Minot Warehouse Storage Co., was on the ground attracting its full share of at-! iention. This tractor was in charge of ! W. E. nnd A. F,. Thompson, former I well known tractor men, who have charge of the western territory. The Wullis-Cub is a 15-25 outfit nnd pulls three Case plows. It is a 4 cylinder machine, weighing 3500 pounds. The tractor is priced at $1G00 and plows $225.The new Hart-Parr was doing some fine breaking when the writer saw it at work. It pulls three Oliver plows. It made a round in 39 minutes and broke hitch only three times. This tractor was entered by the Hart-Parr , Tractor Co. of Grand Forks. It has a . I three mile speed for stubble plowing. J The 15-30 Hart-Parr sells for $1395.
