Thomas Simpson, an old and much respected citizen, passed to the beyond on Friday, June (4, 140], at the home of his daughter, Mes. al. W. Carino, in Oakfield, Iowa, having reached the ripe old age of eighty-five years. He was bor in East Tennessee on June 80, 1818, and when but a boy he moved, with his parents, fron lue rative State and located in Tidiana and later emigrated to Inwea, which has since been his home, April 18, 1430, he was married to Mary Madden Hand to then were born thirteen child ren, four daughters and nine sons, three of whom with the wife and mother had preceded the husband and father to the spirit world. Mr. Simp sson was an honored member of the Masonic fraternity and had risen to the degree of Knights Templar. To this order belongs the credit of asaint ing his noble daughter, Mrs. J. W. Cannon, in her Unfailing faithfulness land devotion to her aged father in giving the care and help needed for his care and comfort in the last days of life. The Knights from Audubon and Extra to the number of twenty- two assembled at the Cannon home, in Oakfield, on Sunday morning and, after a short service by Rev. H. L. Wissler The Knights Templar took charge of the services, Members of Exodus Lodge No. 442 acting as Pall Bearers. The Templar services which are both beautiful and impressive were fully carried out. After the ser vice at the house the Commandery formed in procession and marched to the Oakfield Cemetery followed by a large procession of neighbors and friends where all that was mortal of Sir Knight Simpson was laid to est | With Knightly honors, To the Knight Templar Lodge of whom our father was a meiner; to the brechern of this lodge and to the Winny Kind friends who assisted a in caring for our dear departed dead dare by his last illness and at the time of his death we wish to return our deepest gratitude. Mrs. J. W.
