Alvin opened its initial season in the Coast Region Thornbred League here last Wednesday by upsetting league-leading Clear Lake, 4-3. Mike Ruelas scattered five hits while striking out four batters to notch the victory. Alvin battled back from a 3-0 deficit scoring all its runs in the fifth inning. The big blow was Charlie Hoover's second single of the night which plated Gary Nelson with the winning run. Jackie Hass and Ruelas collected the remaining Alvin hits. Following a four-game roadtrip, Alvin will return to entertain Dobie South Houston at 8 p.m. on Nolan Ryan Field Wednesday, June 22,
