Scow Conservation Commission Adopts Rules For Gardner HillSTOW — The Conservation Commission held an open hearing Wednesday evening, May 21, to discuss regulations for the use 6f the Gardner Hill land and to give interested citizens an opportunity to express their views. The regulations were officially adopted by the Commission at its June 10 meeting.The Commission hopes the land will be used appreciatively, and that particular effort will be made to keep it clean and attractive. No trash containers have been placed in the area as yet.The Boy Scouts have already made good use of one area and have cleaned it up well. Efforts will be made to further remove beer cans and broken glass from certain areas.The new rules will be no problem to persons of good will and common sense.In addition to the following regulations, other applicable bylaws of the Town shall apply to this property which is also categorized as a public place.1. All persons are welcome to use the Gardner Hill property from dawn to dusk. At all other times by written authorization of the Commission.2. Persons using this area do so at their own risk.3. Cutting, mutilating, injuring, removing or takingof trees, shrubs, flowers, or wood is prohibited without written authorization of the Commission.4. No person shall post, remove, or deface any sign, poster, building, or other property in this area.5. No person shall move orremove any barrier or gate on roads or other ways within the Gardner Hill area.6. No commercial activity shall have permission for use of the Gardner Hill area except by approval of the Commission.7. The carrying of and use of firearms and bows and arrows is prohibited within this area except by duly licensed hunters at times specified by the Commission during designated open seasons.8. Garbage or other refuse, glass containers or tin cans must be taken from the property for disposal.9. No person shall operate a ; vehicle on any road or parking area at speeds in excess of io M.P.H. or as otherwise posted.10. No person shall build a fire for any purpose except in areas designated by the Commission and with a permit from the Stow Fire Department specifying said designated area.11. Any permit issued in accordance with these rules and regulations may be revoked by the Commission for any cause it deems sufficient.12. The Commission may withdraw any property under its control from public use when in its opinion such action is necessary in the public interest.Violation of any of the foregoing rules shall be punishable by Cines not to exceed $25 for tne* first offense; not to exceed $50 for the second offense, and not to exceed $100 for a third or subsequent offense.
