Macon, Ga. — The Twiggs Coun ty DAR Chapter unveiled a road side marker near Dry Branch on U.S. Highway 80 Sunday afternoon commemorating the oldest house in Twiggs County. The house was built by John and Charnick Tharp with slave labor in 1809 for their father Rev. W. A. Tharpe, who came together with his family to Twiggs county in 1811.
