THE WAKEFIELD NEWS, FRIDAY, JUNE 19, 1953Mrs. Sofia Torkko, 78Died Last FridayMrs. Sofia Torkko, 78, a resident of Wakefield for the past 45 years, died at 5 o’clock Friday morning at the Divine Infant of Prague Hospial.She had been in ill health for the past year and had been admitted to the hospital Thursday.She ' as born Jan. 6, 1875, at Kurikka, Vaas-m Laani, Finland. The former Sofia Sky feta, she was married to Jacob Torkko on Aug. 4, 1895, in Finland and they came to the United States and to Wakefield, in 1908. Mr. Torkko died in January, 1939.Mrs. Torkko was a member of the First Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid and was a honorary member of the Deconesses.Survivig are four daughter, Mrs. William O. Maki, Mrs. William Lane, and Mrs. Wiettie Hill, all of Wakefield, and Mrs. Milo Di-Orio, Detroit; a son, Arvo, Bessemer; two brothers, Felix Skytta of Fairport Harbor, O., and Samuel and Emil Skytta in Finland; 15 grandchildren and eight greatgrandchildren.Funeral services were held at 1:30 Monday afternoon at the Frick Funeral Borne and at 2 at the First Lutheran Church with the Rev. S. V. Autere officiating. Interment was in Lakeside Cemetery. IPallbearers were a nephew, Albert Torkko, Ramsay; grandsons, Earl Maki, Houghton, Lloyd Maki, Marquette, Eugene Maki and Bernhardt Maki, Wakefield, and Jack DiOrio, Detroit.Out of town relatives and friends attending included Mr. and Mrs. ; Emmanuel Torkko, Mrs. Edward Torkko, Tovio Torkko, Miss Mary Bums, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Pel- ' linen, Ashland; Mr. and Mm.
