Fort Dix, N. J., June 4.—Private Arthur H. Merrill, son of Mr. and Mrs.. Lyndon D. Merrill, 39 Good rich street, Canton, graduated from the Cook’s Course training with the Army Area Food Service School, Fort Dix, N. J., home of the famed 9th Infantry Division. This course is eight weeks in du ration, in which two weeks are spent in class work and six weeks practical work in one of the small mess halls on the post. During the six weeks, the men are taught methods of food prepa ration and sanitation, and the cor rect way of serving the men during meal hours. They are under the eyes of experienced mess stewards throughout their training. Upon completion of this course the men are given a Cook’s Specialist rating.
