Hon. Matt Cook DiesDies at Lumber City.Hon. Matt Cook, one of thebest known business men of Tel-fair county died at his home inLumber City yesterday afternoonafter a very short illness of pneumonia. His death came as a distinct shock and surprise to his friends throughout this section.Mr. Cook was born on his father’s farm a few miles south of Lumber City in Coffee county, about 55 years ago. He moved to Lumber City in 1882 and entered the mercantile business, at which he made an enviable success. He was married in early manhood to Miss Margaret; McNatt. Two children survive, this union, Mrs. Hampton Will-1 cox of Lumber City and Mrs. Douglas McArthur of Atlanta.The deceased took a decided active part in affairs of church and state. He was a member of the Methodfst church and was a 9trong supporter for every movement for good. He was twice elected to the legislature and had a strong political following.Besides his widow and two daughters, the deceased is survived by seven brothers and two sisters, Mrs. F. L Dyal of this place, Mrs. A. W. Clements of Alamo, Mr. J F. Cook, McRie, Morgan Cook, Milan and Quitman Cook, Milan, Henry and I. L Cook of Hazlehurst, John Cook of Rochelle, Monroe Cook of Glenwood. iThe remains were interred in the family burying ground at Lumber City this afternoon, the funeral being attended by an unusually large concourse of friends from all over this section of the state,—Telfair Enterprise.
