The Lawrence team plays the Indians next Friday., The conference of the synod of Kansas of the German Evangelical church commenced its sessions in this* Mueller’s church on Illinois street. About forty ministers and delegates will be present including the president of the general synod, Rev. JohnZimmermann, of St. Louis. The church is a strong one throughout the f United States, there being something like one thousand ministers.The funeral of J. F. Chevalier, who met such an untimely death Monday morning, was held at 3 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the residence on south New Jersey street, the services being conducted by Dr. Marvin. | Among the relatives present was a ! son, Peter Chevalier, of Osage coun-I tv. The deceased was 74 years oid and his given name was Justin, instead of John, as given in Monday’spaper.Mr. G. A. Lewis, who for the past thirteen years has been connected with Wm. Bronielsick’s furnishing house, leaves on the 25th of this month for Missoula, Montana, to accept a responsible position in the furnishing and hat department of the Missoula Mercantile• Co., a firm doing a large wholesale and retail business. During Mr. Lewis’ long residence in this city, where he has grown from a boy, he has made many warm friends who will regret to see him leave. He is an excellent business man and thei new position in Montana gives him better prospects for advance men t.His family will remain in thecitv fora• »few months.
