He commenced his busi ness life young, in hard times, and with tut little start, by farming, from which he amassed enough to commence the mercantile business in this place, when the railroad was first built. Here he remained until his death. Always successful in business, he accumulat ed quite a little fortune, leaving nearly all of it to his widow, who so bravely helped him make it. He leaves a family of eight chil dren to mourn his loss, the eldest a son, his successor in business, who promises to be as successful as his father. “Old Joshua Brown, father of the deceased, is yet living, a hale, hearty old man. In the death of Corkins Brown this community has lost one of its best citizens, and all mourn for one cut down in his usefulnem. His death, though not unexpected, has cast a gloom over the town. The funeral took place from the Christian Church Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock.” P.
