Some months since, a report was circulated by citizens of Honev Lake, that a man named Snow was hung bV the people of that Valley, on being convicted of the murder of the Frenchman, butitappears that Snow turned State’s evidence 011 the scaf-i fold, confessing that he belonged to a regular i baud of thieves, aud giving signs, etc., by whichI one member could recognize another of the j gang, and gave the names of several parties, living in Carson Valley, who were concerned ; in the murder of the Frenchman. It was given out that Snow was duly executed and the matter kept quiet. Two men were dispatched to 1 a I Carson Valley, where they have been lor a i month, initiating themselves into the good graces of the band, finding out their secrets. Sic., ! d by the signs given them by Snow. When ev-; erything was fully arranged, notice was given to the citizens of Honey Lake. On Monday I morning last before daylight, a body of armed horsemen, numbering about 100 men, charged ! 1 into Carson Valley and took possession of all the roads and trails leading from the valley into the mountains. They were aided by the citizens of Genoa in arresting the following , well kuowu citizens of the valley, charged with the crime, named : W. II. Thornton, alias Lucky Bill; his son, Jerome Thornton, aged about 1*7 years ; Luther Olds, Urrin Gray, McBride, a , gambler, and two men in the employ of Olds,known as “ Little Ike” and “ Colonel.” When ; our informants left the valley, the parties above named were all secure under a strong guard, awaiting a hearing before the people’s jury, inthe absence of :i higher law, as the crimes werecommitted in Utah. All egress was cut off from the valley by a strong armed guard, and those wishing to pass out or into the valley 1 j are furnished with a passport.
