A change of ownership officially has taken place at the Deming Cattle Auction, Inc., about 3 miles east of the Deming city limits on U.S. 70-80. Carl Shores, left, has sold the Auction to Robert Kuykendall, shown on the right herding cattle into the sales ring. Kuykendall is in the cattle business in Pearsall, Tex., and was in Deming Wednesday for the weekly sales. Another Texan, Ray Baker, will be the new manager. Joe Dye, pictured on horseback, comes from Roswell to take over as foreman of the Deming facility. Helping Kuykendall in the sales ring Wednesday was his 13-year-old daughter, Robbie. Shores has resigned to become a fulltime evangelist. The Wednesday sales schedule will con tinue, including a sale Wednesday, July 4. Visitors to the Deming area at that time for Butterfield Trail Days are invited to watch the busy cattle auction in action. At the end of the sales July 4, at 5 or 6 p.m., a free barbecue will be offered as Kuykendall’s greeting to the Deming area. experience has included six years in a bilingual program in Las Cruces, for a teaching position at Martin School. Michael Glen Cocke, chorus position at High School. Cocke, 23, is coming to Deming from Artesia, where he was choral music teacher last year. He received a BS in Music Education in 1972 from Eastern New Mexico University. He is married and has one child. Robert D. Heeder, new English position at High School. Heeder, 36, taught last year in Tolleson Union High School, Tolleson, Ariz. He has a BA degree from Arizona State University at Tempe. He is qualified to teach English, German, Spanish, Russian and reading. He is married and has 6 children. _ _ 2 one Richard E. Stafford, elementary position at Columbus - Sunshine. Stafford has a BA in Education from Seattle University, Seattle, Washington, and MS and PhD degrees in Spanish from Universidad In teramericana, Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico. He is 46 and has 20 years ex perience in Oregon, Montana and Washington. He is married and has one child, Mary E. Dines, School Nurse. Miss Dines is 24 and received her BA in Secondary Education (Home Economics) from Western New Mexico University, Silver City, in May 1973. She is also a graduate of the Hotel Dieu School of Nursing (now UTEP Nursing School) in El Paso. Sharon E. Spiwak, School Nurse. Mrs. Spiwak is a Registered Nurse (New Mexico Registration), having graduated from the Waterbury School of Nursing, Bridgeport, Conn. She has as a school nurse, public health nurse and hospital staff nurse. Mrs. Spivak is married and has 2 children. Marlene Bourquet, Typing English teacher at High School. Mrs. Bourquet received a BA degree in Business Education from Western New Mexico University, Silver City in May 1973. She was a typing instructor at the Western New Mexico University Community College in Silver City for one semester while attending college. She is married and has one child. Pauline Gunter, elementary teaching position at Memorial School. Mrs. Gunter taught in Deming from 1963 through January 1968, at which time she resigned. She received a BS in Education from New Mexico State in 1963. Mrs. Gunter is properly cer tificated. Evelyn Hunt, elementary position at Bell School Mrs. Hunt received her BS in Education from Western New Mexico University in May 1973. She has no teaching experience although she has worked as an aide and a substitute. Her supervised teaching was done at Memorial School. Judith Major, elementary position at Smith School. Mrs. Major received her BS in Elementary education from Northern Arizona University at Flagstaff in 1966. She has completed graduate work at both Northern Arizona University and Arizona State at Tempe and has six (6) years teaching experience in Phoenix. She is properly certified in New Mexico, married and has one child. Carolyn June Lewis, Girls’ Physical Education position at High School. Mrs. Lewis, 26, taught last year at Del Norte High in El Paso, Tex. Prior to that she taught for four years in Carlsbad. She received her BS degree from Eastern New Mexico University. She is qualified to teach P. E., Health and Biology. She is married and has no children. Stephen Sauer, Chemistry and Physics position at High School. Sauer, 42, has 16 years teaching experience in New Mexico and Missouri (His New Mexico experience was one year and 6 years at Gadsden High School. He has a BS from Central Missouri State University, Warrensburg, Mo., and did graduate work in Physics and Chemistry at New Mexico State University. He is married and has 3 children. Albert P. Valverde, Music Director at Junior High School. Valverde, 31, received his BS in Music Education from New Mexico State University, Las Cruces, in May 1973. He has no teaching experience. He is married and has two children. Mervyn Wertz, General Science teacher at High School. Wertz, 29, is married and has one child. He taught for one semester in Deming during the 1968-1969 school year. Wertz was granted a BS degree from Brigham Young University in 1967 and an MS from Chapman College, Orange, Calif. in 1971. He is properly certified. Martha Sanchez, Elementary teacher (bi-lingual program). Miss Sanchez was graduated with a BS in Elementary Education from Western New Mexico University in May 1973. She has no teaching experience. Carolyn Gross, Teacher in Special Education (Trainable Mentally Han dicapped). Mrs. Gross received a BA degree in May 1973 from New Mexico State University. Mrs. Gross has no teaching experience but her recom mendations for a Special Education position are excellent. She is properly certified. William F. Little, Employed for elementary position at Bell School Little, 28, is married and has two children. He received a BS degree in education from Grand Canyon College, Phoenix, Arizona, in 1968 and has completed graduate work at Arizona State and Northern Arizona University. He has 5 years experience all in the same district — Whiteriver, Arizona. Patsy Leyba, employed for bi-lingual program. Mrs. Leyba received her BS degree in Elementary Education in May 1973 from Western New Mexico University, Silver City. She is married and has 5 children. Rose Marie Roybal, employed as elementary teacher at Smith School. Mrs. Roybal is returning from a leave of absence granted by the Board at the end of the 1971-1972 school year. She has a BS degree in Elementary Education from Fresno State College, California. She has seven years experience. Billie L. O’Bryan, employed as elementary teacher for Sunshine- Columbus schools. Mrs. O’Bryan is returning from a leave of absence granted by the Board at the end of the 1971-1972 school year. She has a BA degree in education from the Univer sity of Missouri, Columbia, Missouri, and has been attending college at Kansas State College, in Pittsburg, Kan., during her leave of absence. She has eight years experience.
