TO THE LADIESBy Louise FloetheUNSUNG HEROINESThe more we hear about war brides the more we feel that, they are unsung heroines of this war. And we don’t mean the gals with commissioned hus-* bands who can afford to follow their grooms to their respective training camps. No, we mean the girls whose men are just buck privates in camps hundreds of miles from their home towns. We mean the girls who are carrying on in their jobs as stenographer, sales girl, nurse, clerk, etc. The girls who arc gallantly supporting themselves and buying war bonds with the double purpose of helping their1 country and setting aside capital for the purchase of furniture for the home they hope Someday to make. The girls* who go unescorted to the movies at night and present a cheerful face to the world and who scorn to show by deed or manner the loneliness that must be in* their hearts^ Hats off to them!
