Marie Underwood, 19 years of age. a niece of Henry Waterman, barber in 510 North street, this city, wasshot and instantly killed at the family home in Matthews, Ind., Sunday evening at 9:30 o’chick. The shooting was accidental. The revolver wasin the hands of Jaunita Waterman, a daughter of the local man.She pointed the gun at her cousin and pulled the trigger, not knowing that the gun was loaded. In part, the Marion Chronicle gives the fol-lowing account of the shooting:Marie Underwood, her cousin, Juanita Waterman, with several Hartford City young men, were being entertained at the Waterman home when the fatal shooting oc-cured. It seems that Marie Under-44wood and her cousin. Juanjta Waterman, both aeeomp ished Musicians,had been playing a piano. Therlo Ricketts, 18, Hartford City, had asked Juanita to accompany him on a walk to buy ice cream. They had left the house when Ricketts remem. bered he had left his revolver,a long barrelled “38” Smith Wesson, in in his coat lying on the bed in the Waterman home. He sent Juanita bacli to the house after the weapon.
