Lorenda Bass Enjoys Anniversary Midst flany Friends and Relatives From Near and FarSumpter, June 10.—Seventy four years ago June 10 Mrs. Lorenda Bass was born. Fifty-four people gathered there Thursday to assist in celebrating the day. Her four children, Dr. E. A. Bass of Montello, VVis.; Martha Has-kin, Freeville, New York; Rhoda Shep-le to 1 ard, Waukesha, Wis.; and F. W. Bass, j with whom she resiles, were all pre-im- sent.' The tables were laden with choice and j viands to refresh the inner man. They tter-, were decorated with cut dowers.i Many of the old songs familiar to all ling ; were given in the afternoon. Mrs.F. L.; Roberts and Miss Dora Hill gave a duet; Mrs. Roberts, Miss Hill, W. A. Shepard and E. A. Haskin sang a quartette and W. A. Shepard rendered several solos.Those present were Dr. E. A. Hill, Dora, Lillian, Harold and Ada Hill, Mrs. Lorenda Young, Elvin, Lewis, and Milton Young, Ervin, Stella and Henry Young, Mr. and Mrs. F. W. Bass, and son, Floyd, Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Haskin, Violet, Walter and Harley Haskin, Mrs. M. Hoover, Mr.and Mrs. R. J. Hoover, Lucile Hoover, Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Hoover, Lucile Hoover, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Gruber, Mr. and Mrs. John Jennewein, Earl Jennewein, Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Premo, Irma I’remo, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Wagner, Lois WTagner, Rev. and Mrs. Roberts and Thelma Roberts.Several gifts were left as a token of the day.Dr. Bass presented a gold watch-chain given by her children with the following verse composed by Mrs. Bissell.“Dear mother”—“Thus far the Lord has gone before And brought you safe to seventy-four The children all are gathered here With friends and relatives less near,” May his gracious presence be with us all“Till we respond to the last great call.”Born to Mr. and Mrs. Henry Fort, Corvallis, Oregon, a son. Mrs. Fort will be remembered as Miss Inez Haskin.Wilber, the little son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Magli, is very ill of indigestion.Mrs. R. H. Mather is entertaining her cousin, Mrs. Cole, of Minneapolis this week.Commencement exercises will be held for the school o? Sumpter in the M. E. church, June 18.
