NEGRO CHURCH BJFire is Supposed to be of Incen*diary Origin.The negro church at Leonia, Jasper C;ounty, was destroyed byfire Ia#{ Saturday night.fire is supposed to have been of incendiary origin. The negro preacher who lives near, states that parties drove up in a buggy, rang the church bell, set fire to the church, rang it again and left.There is considerable excitement among the negroes over the matter and they say they are going to rebuild at once.The section around Leonia is thickly settled with negroes, there being twenty negroes to every white person in that community. A couple of years ago, a negro was appointed postmaster at that place, there being no white person who wanted the job, but some-one told the appointee that he would not be allowed to serve and he resigned. The office was discontinued for several months until a white man moved there who would take charge of it.
