A. D. LeCLERE.Albert David LeClere was born near Dubuque, Iowa, on October 3. 1849. and departed this life at his home in Hopkinton, June 9. 1920. Mr. LeClere was united in marriage to Miss Alice Grey, of McGregor, on September 5. 1878, and in 18S0 they removed to South Dakota, pioneering In that land, their nearest town being 38 miles distant, and their nearest neighbor being 21 miles away. Mr. and Mrs. LeClere hod church services in their home and were diligent in gathering a Sabbath school. On account of the droughth they left Dakota, coming to Blairsburg. Iowa. Jn 1890, whence they returned to Dubuque county, purchasing the old homestead, and remaining the^e until 1899, when, in Eteceraber of .that year they came to Hopkinton on uccount of the college there, and here they have since resided. Early in life Mr. LeClere professed Christ and united with the Prairie Presbyterian church, near the old homestead, where with other relatives the services were continued till the church was disbanded. When their services could not be continued. Mr. LeClere's family attended the M. E. church, at Rockdale On coming to Hopkinton, the family united with the Presbjlerian church, where Mr. LeClere held the office of Ruling Elder until the day of his death.Mr. LeClere's parents were George LeClere. and Louise (Laude) LeClere. both coming from France, and Albert was one among their eight children of four boys and four girls, five of whom remain; Charles F. of Central City. Rev. Geo. F. of Los Angeles. Calif.. Henry A. of Hopkinton. Mrs. Eliza fl0bb. of Winona Lake, Indiana, and Mrs. lAii!« I!. Lerlaire of Blairsburg. jEmlly, Petit, and Susie, eleven yedrc of age. deceased.To Mr. and Mrs. A. D. LeClere were born five children, two of whom are with us; Mrs. Frank Morrison of Vi-borg. S. D.. and Bertha May(Mrs. J. R. Kirkwood.) of Hopkinton; Ira R. a foster son is in New York. Luella J. and Freddie G. have gone before. There are three grand children. Alan LeClere. Wendell Kirkwood, and Bur-uetta Morrison. Mr. LeClere will be nucli missed in the community for le was a man who stood for righteous-iess. He was much interested in the emperance reform, ns the literature n his front trees used to testify. He vas a lover of the Sacramental ser-ices and of the Preparatory services md the prayer meetings. He fre-luently attended Presbyterian church
