SHOTS BOUT AUTO THIEVES Preparedness is the middle name of Edward P. Shute, who is an under taker at 328 West Chicago avenue. When he saw two strangers drive away in his automobile yesterday he didn’t call the police. He pulled a rifle from his umbrella stand, pock eted a handful of ammunition, and pursued them in his motor ambu lance. As both machines raced the streets Shute rested the rifle barrel on his windshield and sent a dozen shots after the thieves. At East Oak street and Lake Shore drive they jumped from the car and fled.
