Mr. and Mrs. Larkin McNiel have just returned from a vacation trip to Charleston, South Carolina, where they visited their son, HM2 and Mrs. Sam Robert McNiel. . . Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Jansky of Rockdale recently visited the American Museum of Atomic Energy, Oak Ridge, Tenn., which features demonstrations and displays on peaceful uses of the atom. The Museum, operated for the U. S. Atomic Energy Commission by Oak Ridge Associated Universities, is the first such institution in the nation devoted to nuclear science. Especially trained lecture demonstrators show how the power of the atom is utilized in medicine, industry, and agriculture. In Mr. and Mrs. Walter Wenzel have returned from a two week visit with their son, The Rev. August Wenzel, and grandson, David, in Nashville. They were met there by Mr. and Mrs. Henry Dornhoefer of Arlington. Mr. Dornhoefer is a brother of Mrs. Wenzel. [ Mr. and Mrs. H T. Brewster of Austin were guests Tuesday in the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Redden ._. Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Carver were in Burkburnett last week end visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Weldon Davenport and to get acquainted with their new granddaughter Paula Kay. Attending the Lions Club District 2-S-3 annual conven tion at the Villa Capri in Austin Saturday, Sunday and Mon day were the following Rockdale club members and their wives: Mr. and Mrs. Doug Smith, Mr. and Mrs. L. F. (Buck) Rogers, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Love and Mr. and Mrs. Spud Caywood. Miss Lynn Heflin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Smith, was a contestant in the annual district queen’s con test. The Lions state convention opened Tuesday at the Villa Capri. Mrs. Jimmy Wallis spent several days this week in Houston with her sister and family, Mr. and Mrs. John Brannon and family ... Mrs. Allen W. Williams and son Mike and daughters Charlotte and Carol of Alto and Mrs. T. E. Newton and son Tommy of San Antonio, were week end visitors of Mrs. Pascal Pogue in Rockdale ... Mrs. Theo Keller, Mrs. Jessie Dunnington and Mrs. Ann Redfield of Houston and Mrs. Ann Higsby of LaPorte and Nancy Moehl of Taylor were guests of Mrs. Louis Zimmer over the week end in the Dunnington home. Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Lanier of Los Angeles, California, visited last week with Mr. and Mrs. Joe Stanislaw and Mrs. Theda Albrecht. They also visited Mrs. Lanier’s sister Marcella Stanislaw in Austin... The Clyde Jones family has just returned home from a two weeks vacation spent at Lake Cherokee in Rusk County ... Mrs. Clyde Laughlin left Aus tin last week by jet plane for her home in Healdburg, Cali fornia. She had been visiting in the home of her mother Mrs. Gus Lorenz and other relatives during a months visit here. Pat Hight received his Air Force discharge at McClellan Air Force Base, California, on June 9 after completing four years service. Son of Mr. and Mrs. Scotty Hight of Rockdale, he has returned home here ... Mrs. J. N. Monkres of Arp, Texas was a — visitor here with her daughter, Mrs. Glenn Hodges and family. Sharon Hodges of Bryan also visited here over the weekend. All made a tour of the Hill _~— starting Tohneson City, Fredericksburg and the Lake
