Celebrates BirthdayHenry Hofeldt, one of Blue Island’s oldest residents celebrated his 80th birthday last Friday, at his home at 2015 High st. Mr. j Hofeldt was born in Schleswig Holstein, Germany, and came to Blue Island with his parents when he was less than 2 years old and w’hen Western avenue was only a wagon trail. The family took up residence on a farm at 150th and Western which later became the Bauer homtj and is now the site of the Mother of Sorrows Orphanage. His parents and family later moved to Waterloo, la., but Mr, Hofeldt remained in this city. He has many interesting stories to tell of the old days in Blue Island.
