PARLEY SAVES CHANNEL LINKSConference Between Officials of Association and Drainage DistrictSEMI-PUBLIC COURSELinks Open to All Residents Of Drainage DistrictDifficulties from a misunderstanding regarding the use of the right of way of the drainage canal by the Community Recreation association in Evanston and Wilmette, were satisfactorily settled following a conference between President C. M. Cartwright and Vice-President Thomas F. Leahy of the organization and Chief Engineer Edward F. Kelly of the Sanitary District board. As a result of the interview the Evanston Community Recreation association will continue to conduct the course. The officers assured the chief engineer that owing to the fact that this year the golfers are playing to a great extent on drainage district property, the course is open to anyone in the district and is not confined to citizens of Evanston and Wilmette.Suggest Man on BoardSo long as the Community Recreation association used for the most part private property which is leased, it restricted the playing as far as possible to local people. The officers of the local association suggested that the draining trustees appoint a representative to be present at the meetings of the board of the Community Recreation association, if they so de-sire.Chief Engineer Kelly was told that the Community Recreation association is not a private organization in the sense that anyone connected with the board is financially supported. It i is purely a semi-public organization designed to promote the game of golf along the right of way of the Sanitary District, President Cartwright explained. The clubhouse is practically completed and lockers have been installed and are now in use. The restaurant ( concession in the clubhouse has been j alotted to Schwartz brothers, who are proprietors of the “Pantry.”“The recreation association has considerable construction work to do on , its course in the way of getting the fair ways and greens in better condition,” said President Cartwright. “The drought has greatly handicapped the grounds committee. No playing has been done on the new course north of Maple avenue in Wilmette.” ;The Sanitary District trustees have been selected members of the Evanston Community Recreation association. _ 1
