Big Elk News. Mayor Thos. Noble is in poor health. He has recently treated the town to a new ‘paint’ dress, light brown with sea-green trimmings. Also him self to a fine parlor organ. He re ports business very good. Mrs. Frank Robertson is convales cent, after a severe siege of fever. Miss Stella Walker, of the Big Tim ber schools last winter, is in charge of the schools and gives entire satis faction. John Moore contemplates teasing his sheep and moving to Big Timber to engage in business. The McFarland hotel is still a pop ular hostelery. The genial brawny blacksmith wears a $15.00 smile as he greets you. The bill of lumber for the new school house is in the hands of the mill men, and Phos. Noble and Geo. Moore are furnishing the wherewith to build until the tax levy comes in. hig Elk boasts of a secret order, the *Nome Forum” with a member ship of 20. The town took a recess Monday while six covered schooners, all the way from Crook county, Wyoming, going to Martinsdale, for railroad grading, passed through. The Methodist church services on Sunday were well attended. Mr. Nash of Billings reports that he bought a band of yearling weath ers for $2.25, from Dr. Parberry. Sheep men say this a low price.
